This month we are excited to showcase Zaundra McNamara in our Employee Spotlight! Zaundra has been working at Fieldstone Memory Care for about three years and is the Assistant Director of Nursing, LPN.
Before becoming a nurse, Zaundra attended Saki Beauty School and received her cosmetology license. At the age of two, Zaundra knew she wanted to become a nurse and her family realized it the day she was caught in a crosswalk watching an elderly man cross. After they hurried her to the sidewalk, they asked her what she saw in that man, and her response was, "I can feel his pain." Zaundra went on to become a Certified Nursing Assistant and worked throughout the Yakima Valley as a caregiver for over 20 years. She then attended YVCC and Heritage University, graduating from their LPN program in 2012. Zaundra considers graduating from nursing school and completing a lifelong dream of becoming a nurse as one of the top highlights in her life.
Zaundra was born in Yakima but grew up in Gleed, Washington. She has very fond memories of her childhood while growing up with her brother, Trevor, and loves to reminisce about the good old days.
Zaundra is a single mother of one son who is now 32 years old. She has since adopted two of her three amazing grandchildren and is currently raising them in the Tampico area. She says that becoming a grandmother for the first time was a defining moment in her life.
On a more personal level, Zaundra is a thrill seeker and loves to ride roller coasters at theme parks! She's a music lover and attends as many concerts as possible with her family and friends. She also enjoys staying busy and running her kids to sports or other activities. Zaundra is a free spirit with a fantastic sense of humor who has a deep passion for the elderly, and anyone who crosses her path.
Getting to know the residents and their families on a personal level is one of Zaundra's favorite parts about her job. She strives to familiarize herself with every detail and spends extra time getting to know each resident. Zaundra believes in the message behind Fieldstone as a company and relates to the story behind it. She is also proud that her job has given her the opportunity to grow and learn as much as she can about Alzheimer's disease.
Zaundra brings over 35 years of healthcare experience to our Fieldstone Community. She continuously has a positive attitude even on the roughest of days and her attitude is contagious! She is always ready to have a good time, and you never leave her without a good laugh. We are truly blessed to have her as a part of our team - she has a lot to share.
